Since moving to DC, I admit that I’ve become quite cliche when it comes to eating out. Here in the Capital, it’s quite trendy to eat out on #TacoTuesday. Believe me, folks actually plan meetups centered around this lively day and I guarantee Taco Bell is not on the list of places you should visit.

Instead folks are plan on finding the best and most authentic tacos they can find and ultimately, the winner is simply a matter of one’s own taste buds. For me the clear winner for #TacoTuesday is none other than Santa Rosa Tacqueria. It’s located Capitol Hill right next door to the famed We the Pizza!

I’ve passed by Santa Rosa Tacqueria several times, before promising myself each time that I would visit. Finally, after my daughter’s field trip to the US Botanic Garden, on a Tuesday in January, she suggested that we try them out for #TacoTuesday. I’m glad that I said yes too.

The first thing I saw when we walked in was their margarita menu, which listed a seasonal margarita, the classic margarita and three specialty margaritas. When you find margaritas for $7 at a non chain restaurant, you have clearly stepped into tequila paradise.

I opted for the Coladarita, which is a mix of Sauza Blue, Tequila, Pineapple and Coconut Lime juice. My lips where happy with each sip. The tequila was strong enough for me to dismiss the thoughts of ordering a second one since I drove.

There tacos where a cool $3.75 each or 3 for $11. My waistline said I probably should have ordered two, but everyone loves a good deal so I went with the three. Because I love seafood I chose the Spicy Fried Shrimp, the Al Pastor, and the Carne Asada.

In a surprising twist, the Al Pastor taco ended up being my favorite. That’s a huge win for gal who orders the seafood entree no matter what type of restaurant it might be. That chili orange mole in the Al Pastor was just do darn good., but all three tacos were fabulous.

This was one of my most affordable food adventures here in DC and it was worth every single cent. The next time I visit I’m taking the train so t I can get that second margarita. Do you have a favorite spot you like to dine at for #TacoTueday? Share the location of your spot in the comments.
